Born and raised in the Berlin area, started to play the clarinet at the age of 9 and added the tenorsaxophone when he was 15 years old. Beside his first jazzprojects, he was playing in Ska-, Rock- and Bluesbands when he was a teenager. Among other things he open up for the Mano Negra Germany Tour at the age of 18.
He lives since the mid 90's as a freelanced musician, mostly moving between modern and free jazz, playing with the most variable bands and artist in- and outside of Germany.
Komitow played for several CD-, Radio- and Theaterproductions (Schauspielhaus Bochum, Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg / Ashes to Ashes - Pinter, Germania III - Müller, Threepenny Opera - Brecht/Weill u.a.).
